boutique specializing in Southwest, regional, and local authors and subjects. Marlene Tiede, owner, has stocked the store with quality history, general interest, and fiction books by authors such as Jinx and Jayne Pyle, Marshall Trimble, Kenneth Ziegler, Jack San Felice, Peter Aleshire, and now me.
I'm pleased to have my book The Wham Curse for sale in my home town, where many friends and family will now have access to it. I'm proud of the quality of Marlene’s shop. She has a very impressive stock of excellent books with a connection to Miami, Globe, Gila County, San Carlos, Arizona, and the Southwest. It is as good as any Southwestern book store I have seen, including those in the Valley and Tucson. During the next few weeks Marlene will be selling off her used books. Paper backs and some hard cover books will be sold for one bag of books of your choice for $1.00.
Miami has several antique shops and galleries, excellent Mexican food, and the wonderful Bullion Plaza Museum, as well as some nice bed and breakfast inns. (My favorite chicken on earth can be had at Dick's Broasted Chicken a block west of The Book Bank.) It is an easy day trip from Metro-Phoenix and adding neighboring Globe will more than fill your day with interesting things to see and do. I will finish with a shameless plug for my cousin, Jim Moss, owner of the Pickle Barrel Trading Post, 404 South Broad Street Globe, AZ 85501, located in the historic Railroad Freght Depot. He has a great stock of Native American jewelry and crafts, art and artisan work, copper art, and locally-created souvenirs.
