A highlight for me was visiting with two friends: Kay Billingsley and Mary Walker. Kay is a life-long friend who married my childhood best friend, Dale. Not only did Dale and I grow up together, but we were best man at each other’s wedding, roommates at college, and worked together as adults. Unfortunately, Dale died in an industrial accident several years ago. So seeing Kay was wonderful, and seeing that she is doing so well was even better. Mary Walker on the other hand is friends with my daughter Kandice, but I had never met her. She is an avid reader and blog reviewer, and on reading my book wrote a great review. She also directed me to some contacts in the business. So visiting with a new friend and a long-time friend was a fun thing.
We experienced some of our summer storms this weekend, including a huge dust-storm. When the two collided it became quite a mud storm. Crazy weather people have decided to call these "monsoons" and "haboobs"; but I prefer what they were always called - summer storm and dust storm, or the Navajo "Male Rain" and "Cover Face With Blanket". I took a picture of the mud storm, to see it and other photos of the Mesa book signing go to the "Photos" Tab. (I forgot to get out my camera in Tucson.)
